Southern Adelaide Health Services - Regional Intranet Project
Southern Adelaide Health Service (Southern Health) is a regional health service, which brings together Flinders Medical Centre, Noarlunga Hospital and Drug & Alcohol Services SA. It was established in 2004 as part of the health reform process in South Australia.
In early 2006, Southern Health made the decision to purchase a content management system (CMS) and amalgamate the four existing regional and organisation intranets into one regional intranet, serving approximately 4,000 staff. Brabham Consulting won the tender to project manage this process.
Jane Brabham and the team from Brabham Consulting worked with us, initially over a period of three months, to identify our needs, select an appropriate CMS, and complete a base installation to meet an extremely tight deadline of the end of financial year. Jane and Marc led the entire process tightly and professionally, and with a very necessary amount of good humour. The content specifications for the CMS were detailed, and enabled us to make a quick but informed decision via select tender about match of software to our needs. The 30 June deadline was met.
Once the base installation was complete, Jane continued to work with us for another eight months on the business implementation and development of some specific functions eg noticeboards, forms, search functions.
Over the entire process, it was really a joy to work with Jane and Marc. Everybody in the Webteam learned an enormous amount from them. Some of their key strengths are that they are so willing to share information and skills. By the time Jane completed the contract, we were in a very strong position to continue working with the software vendor, and we had an online strategy to work towards long term. This would have been almost impossible without the support of Brabham Consulting.
